DEEP DIVE SESSION
🍄 Lion’s Mane Is Popping Up Everywhere

Lion’s Mane has a long history in traditional East Asian medicine, where it was valued for its purported health benefits. However, its foray into the consumer market is a relatively recent phenomenon, fueled by the burgeoning interest in functional mushrooms and nootropics.
You can’t escape it these days.
It’s infiltrated our coffee. Our seltzers. Even those millennial burger-joints are hopping on that trend (OF COURSE they would).
But…what DOES IT DO?
Now, for the nitty-gritty. Lion’s Mane’s purported cognitive benefits are largely attributed to its ability to stimulate the production of NGF. This protein plays a crucial role in the growth, maintenance, and survival of nerve cells.
By promoting NGF, lion's mane may help protect against nerve damage and neurodegenerative diseases.
Lion's mane also exhibits anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects, which can help protect cells from damage caused by oxidative stress and inflammation.
And 1 more thing - it hits you right in the gut.
Studies have shown that Lion's mane can have a prebiotic effect, meaning that it can help to promote the growth of beneficial gut bacteria.
We love a little gut-friendly fungi in our life.
Who might benefit from the fungi? 🤔
While Lion’s Mane isn’t a magic bullet, it may be beneficial for:
Students and professionals seeking a cognitive edge.
Individuals experiencing mild cognitive decline.
Anyone looking to support their overall brain health.
People who want to add a unique supplement to their daily routine.
Let’s also be crystal clear: this is not your ticket to meeting Jerry Garcia in a candy-coated alternate universe. You can find those other mushrooms….err…not here!

STORY OF THE WEEK
❌ We’ve Got A Crisis In Creatine

We’ve got a crisis in creatine world. Buckle up.
Remember those delicious-looking creatine gummies promising to pump up your gains? Well, it turns out they might be pumping up… absolutely nothing.
It’s officially….GUMMYGATE.
Here's a breakdown of the situation that unfolded last week:
Independent testing, notably by supplement company NOW, revealed that many creatine gummy products, including those from Ovrload, contained significantly less creatine than their labels claimed, with some showing virtually none. Yes, that’s correct, VIRTUALLY NONE. 🤯
Furthermore, some of the creatine that was present had degraded into creatinine, a waste product.
The price of gummy creatine products is often substantially higher than powdered creatine. So consumers are paying premium prices, for ineffective products, or quite frankly, products that are worthless.
This whole debacle shines a bright light on the wild west of supplement labeling.
We need stricter regulations, more rigorous testing, and a healthy dose of skepticism when it comes to supplement claims.
The takeaway, as we always like to remind readers - DO. YOUR. RESEARCH., before ingesting anything.
